In 1979, under the leadership of Russell D. Phelon, affectionately known as “Dale” and the son of the company’s founder, the company underwent significant changes. Corporate headquarters were moved to Aiken, South Carolina, and the manufacturing facility was expanded to 150,000 square feet to accommodate a growing customer base in the Southeast. This move also included the development of a sister facility in Lomira, Wisconsin, to serve the Midwest’s engine electronics and ignition needs. The expansion of the company cemented its reputation as a leader in ignition systems for small engines.
